Theodore Sprague wanted nothing more than to make his wife Karen happy.
The best way to do that, he thought, was to be in sales. What better thing to
sell, than a machine that lets a sick person live as normal as possible. I
mean we all want to be normal right? So Ted starts to sell dialysis
machines to hospitals, clinics and individuals.
He made decent money at his job, so he was able to provide for his wife the
best he could. Yet his wife liked the simple things in life. They would often
go the beach and listen to oldies. One night while at the beach it rained.
They listened to an entire American Beauty Album before the rained stopped.
A few months ago while in Kansas Ted made a big sale to a university
hospital. With the commission he was going to get his wife something good.
After the sell Ted goes to the hotel bar, where he was staying at in Kansas,
and feels so good that he decides to buy a round of drinks for everyone!
There were not too many people in the bar, ones you would expect from a
bar near a university, some professors, a student from Haiti, and a couple
from Wyoming.
The next he knows he is in his car in Tempe Arizona. He has weird cuts and
bruises on his body and it is two days later. He gets back home to buy his
wife some flowers, but they wilt right away. Odd!
Over the next few months thing got bad… very bad! Ted’s computer would
overheat, the water would never be cold enough to drink, all the plants
started to die, his wife was getting sick, and he was having these horrible
headaches.
Soon Ted knew something was up. Things would start to smoke and then
burn up right in front of him. He couldn’t hold onto anything without it
getting burnt to a crisp. He thought he was going crazy. He had to get his
wife out of here.
Agent Audrey Hanson and Matt Parkman have now checked out Ted’s house
and see the radioactive destruction there. They soon found themselves at
the hospital in Karen’s Sprague’s room. Audrey wanted to take Ted
downtown, but Ted grabbed the nurse by the arm and shouted, “I need to
stay with my wife! You can’t take me away from here! I don’t know what I’d
do without her! Maybe I’ll explode… maybe I’ll take out this hospital…
maybe I’ll wipe out the entire city like an atomic bomb!”
Matt started to hear Karen’s thoughts, so he quickly relayed them to Ted
calm him down. “Karen says you need to stop! You are too damn stubborn,
but you are still my teddy bear. I don’t blame you and I don’t want you to
worry. It is not your fault Ted.”
“It isn’t fair!” shouts Ted.
“It never is.” states Matt still convening Karen’s thoughts. “She still
remembers being with you at the beach in the rain. She remembers it all!”
Then Karen passed away. Ted released his grip from the nurse. The nurse
had deep burns on her arm from where Ted was holding onto her. She cried
out in pain and ran off to seek medical attention.
Audrey and Matt took Ted downtown to interrogate him. Before going in to
talk to Ted they put on Dosimetry radiation detection meters. Audrey stated
that Ted could put out 1800 (carries) of radiation without even coming close
to radioactive material. Also that the meter needed to stay green… any
other color was bad. They only had one hour before Homeland Security
would take him.
As the agent and cop come in Ted told them, “I wasn’t allowed to go to my
wife’s funeral. I just want to be left alone.”
“That nurse was burnt to the bone! You gave your wife radiation poison!”
Audrey tells Ted.
Ted started to get very upset and the meter’s color changed to red. Matt
reassures him that he just wants to listen to him and to understand what is
going on with him. Ted calms back down and relays the story of him
blacking out at the bar.
“The same thing happened to me!” exclaimed Matt.
Ted told them what happened to him at the bar. He and Matt showed each
other their // marks. They start to talk about the Haitian man. Homeland
security and agent Elisa Thayer then ran into the interrogation room and
took Ted away.

was burning with fire and exploding.
