NAME: SIMONE DEVEAUX
STATUS: DECEASED
LOCATION: NEW YORK, NY
BIO:
Simone Deveaux is a stunningly beautiful African American woman, about
30 years of age. She is an art dealer, and owns a gallery in Manhattan. She
has no known SG abilities, but she plays a very important role in the lives of
several known SGs.
Before the recent death of Simone’s father, Peter Petrelli was Mr. Deveaux’s
hospice nurse, during which time Simone and Peter became friends. Peter
has given Simone comfort and support in her times of need, such as when
her father passed away, and helping her deal with her boyfriend’s heroin
addiction. Peter is also in love with Simone, but knows that although she
cares a great deal for him, she is not in love with him. Peter accepts this.
For the past two years Simone has had an intimate relationship with artist
Isaac Mendez. Simone has exhibited Isaac’s paintings at her gallery, and
handled the purchase of several of them by wealthy businessman and
reputed mob boss, Mr. Linderman. Simone and Isaac are in love, but Isaac’s
heroin addiction has caused more than a few problems for them.
Recently, Isaac began claiming that he could paint the future, and showed
Simone “proof” by showing her a painting of a bus that had been destroyed.
He then showed her the front page of a newspaper containing a photo of a
bus in Israel that had been blown up by a suicide bomber. The photo was
startlingly similar to the painting; even the bus numbers were the same. He
said he had painted the bus three days before the bus exploded.
Believing Isaac was merely having heroin induced delusions, Simone
begged him to go back to rehab, but he refused. He could paint the future
only when he was high. Isaac’s refusal to get treatment led to Simone
breaking up with him.
It was Simone who helped Nathan Petrelli get one of Isaac’s paintings back
from Mr. Linderman. Peter had asked Nathan to get the painting from Mr.
Linderman because he needed it so he could go to Odessa, Texas, to save
the life of a cheerleader. After Simone gave the painting to Nathan, Nathan
threw a bucket of paint on it so Peter could not use it for his mission.
Simone, however, had kept the photograph of the painting that accompanied
it back to New York, and gave it to Peter, enabling him to go to Odessa,
where he did save the life of a cheerleader.
Isaac disappeared for a time. Simone and Nathan went to Isaac’s studio to
look at some of Isaac’s paintings. Isaac had returned, clean, healthy and
sober. He said he’d been in a private clinic for treatment of his addiction,
and no longer needed heroin to paint. He told Simone he still loved her, and
they kissed.
Meanwhile, Hiro Nakamura and his friend Ando came into the studio. While
Hiro spoke with Nathan, Ando spoke with Simone and Isaac. Simone is
finally convinced that Isaac can actually paint the future when she sees the
9th Wonder comic books in which Isaac had cartooned the journeys and
experiences of Hiro and Ando.
This brings the report on Simone Deveaux up to date.
