Q&A with Malcolm McDowell

Hello fellow Heroes fans, Cheese 'n Biscuits here.

I have been one of the lucky few, non film/television oriented people, to meet Malcolm McDowell.

I have been asked by the
www.the-owi.com to write up about my experience and thoughts on my meeting with
the man I will call ‘a legend’.

As you can see from the picture below I was certainly very happy to meet a man who I have studied at
university and admired. It was the weekend of the 17-18 of November on a rainy cold day in Manchester, I had
driven up from London the night before which was about a 4 and a half hour drive. I was looking forward to a
fantastic weekend with a newly acquired free ‘Gold Pass’ for a meet and greet with some famous people.

I already knew that I was going to meet Malcolm and this was the main reason I accepted the ‘Gold Pass’. So
to help out and to try and bring something back to the site I asked if there were any questions people wanted
answered. OWI fans answered the call.

So my task was clear, I had a few important questions and a few personal questions.

Time to see what I could do.

The day was setup as below, Malcolm +others would meet fans (me) he would then offer the opportunity for
fans to have a photo taken with them by a professional photographer (at a price). In the evening there was an
optional drinks session for VIP’s and then close. (Well ‘close’ being if you wanted to go to bed and not drink
into the early hours)

Because I had a gold pass I was able to meet Malcolm with the normal fans, have my photo taken (for free I
might add because of my magic ‘Gold Pass’) and I was invited to the VIP evening for drinks.

Now I must make it clear the VIP evening is really optional and not obligatory, it was time for people, staff,
stars to relax chat and generally network (business talk for make business friends for future projects). But it
is normally a relaxed attitude and no security worries since its close friends and VIP’s only. This was when
Adrian Pasdar uploaded some You-Tube videos… And Lance Henriksen wanted to know about soccer.. But I
am digressing!!!

Anyway time to get to the point and the questions.

Now I asked far broader questions than were submitted by OWI fans. This is Malcolm's response. Some of the
questions included whether or not we would see Linderman again either in the present or in flashbacks.

Malcolm at first when he got a call from his agent Malcolm turned down the role of Linderman, Malcolm was
not interested in doing TV and was more interested in features or films.

It was only later when he spoke to his son, Charlie (who is a director,) who said that Heroes was the hottest
thing on TV and he was crazy to turn it down (as well as Entourage, which Malcolm accepted a role in after he
received an offer from his agent). So Malcolm called his agent and asked for the proposed script and story for
the character Linderman.
Malcolm said that the role was wonderful, it was forward thinking (something Malcolm finds attractive) and it
was short. Linderman was always perceived to be killed at the end of season 1 and this suited Malcolm with
his work commitments. Nothing to do with the show writers or Network.

Linderman is dead, 100% dead. Malcolm has not been asked to come back for flash backs or anything like
that to date, that does not mean it might happen in the future.

I did ask that if his agent asked him to appear would he refuse the option or not. Malcolm said that he is a
forward facing man so unless there is a new direction or something special Linderman will not be resurrected.

I then asked if there was anyone he would say yes to (to play Linderman again)?

Now this answer was rather ropey, and I appreciate that is was not the nicest question… (sorry Malcolm).

Malcolm said
.If the cast asks him then he would consider it, but again the script and direction of the show
must be to his liking (he has become very good friends with Adrian, + others).

Malcolm said he is not one to re-visit something for no reason (sequels etc…) If the role had purpose and
drive then he would do it.... but otherwise no.

That is all hope you all got the answers you wanted.

I then moved onto Questions about ‘Clock work orange’ and ‘IF’ and the killing of Kirk. But I will save this tale
for a later date. If, I am asked to do a part 2. (I am always up for sequels).

I hope you all have enjoyed this!
