Isaac Mendez is an artist who lives in his New York City studio, and is the
creator of the 9th Wonders comic book series. He is Latino, and is in his
late 20’s.
Isaac’s SG ability allows him to paint the future. He first realized his ability
in March of 2006 while at a showing of his paintings at the Deveaux Gallery,
owned and operated by Isaac’s girlfriend, Simone Deveaux. At the show, a
young woman approached him and hit him with a right cross. Her reason for
the assault was Isaac’s painting of a young woman hit by a bus, and that
she was the woman. She ran from the gallery, with Isaac in pursuit, and
moments later, was hit by a bus, as depicted in Isaac’s painting. Other
events his paintings have foreseen are: an Israeli bus bombing, a disastrous
train fire in Odessa, Texas, Simone’s turning to another man. Recent
editions of the 9th Wonders comic book series have followed the adventures
of Hiro Nakamura and his friend Ando. Hiro is able to control space and
time. Hiro can manipulate time and space, and the comic book accurately
depicts their journeys in both Japan and the US.
Isaac was a heroin addict who twice failed to remain rehabilitated. Until
recently, his ability to paint the future manifested only when he was under
the influence. In October, 2006, Isaac was taken to what he thought was yet
another rehab facility, but was actually OWI Headquarters. There, with the
help and friendship of Eden McCain, he was able to become free of his
addiction and, as a result, to control his ability and use it at will, without
the aid of drugs.
While Isaac continues creating his comic book and paintings, he also works
secretly for OWI. He uses his ability to locate other people, currently Peter
Petrelli, with SG abilities and reports directly to Mr. Bennet.
