NAME: CHARLIE ANDREWS
ABILITY: EIDETIC MEMORY
LOCATION: MIDLAND, TX
BIO:
Charlie Andrews was a waitress at the Burnt Toast Diner in Midland, TX,
with a cheerful personality, a gift for gab, and a persistent, winning smile.
She was a great favorite with her co-workers and customers alike.
She met Hiro Nakamura when he and his friend, Ando, stopped at the diner
for a meal on their drive back to New York. While chatting with Hiro as she
waited on the two men, Charlie displayed a near perfect ability to quickly
memorize and recall any information. Hiro was quite enchanted with Charlie,
especially when she passed the mini Japanese language lesson he gave
her, with flying colors. They were unaware that Sylar was in the diner,
watching them. Unfortunately, when Charlie went to the store room to open
a can of fruit, Sylar was waiting for her, and used his telekinetic ability to
open her skull so he could take Charlie’s brain and ability for his own.
Devastated by the death of his new friend, Hiro attempted to go back in time
to the previous day so he could warn her of the impending murder, but being
a novice, he was unable to control his power, and went back 6 months, to
Charlie’s last birthday, April 24. Hiro stayed in the past, worked at the diner
and dated Charlie. He finally convinced her that both of him had super
abilities when he froze time, and in the blink of an eye, presented Charlie
with 1,000 origami paper cranes. According to Japanese legend, anyone who
folds 1,000 paper cranes will be granted a wish.
When Hiro earned enough money, he bought two tickets to Japan, and asked
Charlie to go with him to his homeland so she wouldn’t be in Texas on the
day Sylar would kill her. Charlie confessed that she would love go to Japan,
Hiro made her happy and she loved him, but she would die whether or not
Sylar murdered her because she had a fatal brain aneurism. Just as they
were about to kiss, Hiro was teleported back to the present, unable to save
Charlie’s life.
Mohinder Suresh discovered Charlie’s name and location on his father’s list
of people with the Super Genome. The meeting of Charlie, Hiro and Ando at
the Burnt Toast Diner was also chronicled in the 9th Wonders comic book
series created by Isaac Mendez.
